Trip 3: Phu Quoc Island

It was one and a half hour flight from Malaysia. Phu Quoc belongs to Vietnam and is home to the previous prime minister (or so I heard). The island is not as well known as Da Nang so we were expecting smooth sailing customs. Boy, did we expect wrong. The day we landed, November 10, marks the first day for Phu Quoc to have direct flights to the Czech Republic!

There were about a thousand visitors to the island (thankfully it’s a big island). The resort we stayed at was one of the quieter places (can’t imagine going on a holiday to get away from people only to be swarmed with people). The resort had a blackout, but it was for a short while. Definitely recommended if you like nature as the resort is surrounded by nature and next to the beach. The resort we went to was Camia Resort. The beaches are beautiful and untainted by tourists (well, depends on which beach you go to).

The food there was extremely delicious, especially the crab spaghetti! It’s to die for. Their seafood is reasonably priced compared to many countries.

It was extremely humid, and we would sweat easily. If you want to visit Phu Quoc, best to prepare for rainy days as well. During one of the rainy days, we noticed a couple causing a scene. They reserved the romantic table by the beach, and they had to move to one of the tables indoors, as the romantic table wasn’t sheltered. The lady was bawling her eyes; I felt embarrassed for her haahha.

Massages there are also reasonably priced. Definitely try it out when you’re there. Of course, choose the non-dodgy-looking ones.
